chiming in on transit in the US - normally I would agree, but JFK does have an AMEX Centurion lounge there. If you happen to be flying in the same terminal, I would highly recommend that lounge for the food and alcohol offerings. Due to my own experiences, I would rate Centurion lounges above most equivalent airline J lounges, with a few exceptions.
