If you have the miles, just book it. I think you are over thinking it. You can fly HND-SFO and still have ample time to get back to HND before the HND-LAX two days later. It isn't like the two itinerariers are impossible to fly.

If you aren’t comfortable changing your existing itinerary online or with an agent, buy the new itinerary, pay the partner booking fee again and cancel the old itinerary.
