Recently tried a BRG based on a cheaper rate I found on TUI.com. It was rejected because the agent could not find the rate.
Now I figured out that the website only shows rates if being accessed from within Europe. I asked Marriott to recheck via VPN/proxy, but I got the same rejection stating rate not found. Anyone else experienced this issue?
I would not be too upset about not being able to use TUI.com. I am based out of Europe and I have tried to submit a claim for this website.
This was the response:
"The competing site you have submitted, offers “on request” rates, which means you are unable to get an instant confirmation of your reservation. With these rates, you will submit a request for an advertised rate. Once your request is received, the Competing Website will contact the hotel to see if the rate will be available for the dates of your stay and contact you regarding your request.
In order to approve a Best Rate Guarantee claim, we must be able to independently verify the availability of the competing rate at the time of processing your claim.
As we are unable to confirm that you will be provided with an “instant confirmation,” on your comparison site I am unable to approve your claim."
