As you can see, the charging time required is not anywhere near the driving time.
That's the theory--I've done it in real life and I couldn't get more than 600mi driven in a 12hr day. Once you deplete the battery beyond a certain point, you're spending more time for charging. And almost never did I see charging rates even at 80kwh back then (2019).

You're welcome to try it for yourself. I've driven from one coast to the other in a gas car, and while that trip can be grueling if you're on a schedule, it's nowhere near the torture of that Tesla trip from Chicago to SF.

Basically the rule of thumb my wife and I used for the Tesla and long trips is if there's more than one supercharger stop, forget it and rent a gas car to save time.
