We arrived at our hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn about 15 min away from the airport quite early and were very happy to get an early check-in at 6.30am since we were actually quite tired. We finished our night and left the hotel around 12 to get downtown Toronto using the Metro this time.
We had a delicious hamburger at Ugly Delicious in Kensington and walked across the town. It was cold and foggy that day so the sights were not that great. We later met our friends at the Eaton centre and had a coffee there.
For once I get on the picture with the food. The burgers were just delicious at that place. Highly recommend Ugly delicious in Kensington !
Street art in Kensington. I was hoping to see some more as last time I was there 10 years ago, but I guess I did not recall where to go...
The weather was not great that day : foggy, windy, wet and cold
Myriam had to work in the morning of the second day so I took this opportunity to do a bit of shopping for tools and parts which are easier to find on this side of the pond. As soon as she finished working at lunch time, we took the car and drove the Niagara falls. It was the first time for her and the second time for me there, always on the Canadian side, but my previous time was during spring.
We were lucky that quite some snow fell down the day before as the landscapes were covered in fresh snow. We had a walk around town, and you could see that it was certainly not the peak touristic season! Most of the shops were deserted, so were the streets. We certainly had a different picture of what Niagara falls could look like in winter and we found it charming, albeit (very) cold…
American falls (The other side is in the US).
Horseshoe falls
American and Horseshoe falls
This town looks like an amusement park really.
Horseshoe falls at sunset
After sunset we stopped for some outlet shopping and eventually ended up there until closing time. You certainly get good deals when buying a warm coat in Canada in January
For our last day in Canada, we met our friends at the St Lawrence market downtown Toronto for lunch and the weather was much better than the previous days. Too bad we had to leave by 2pm to get to the airport!
Weather is certainly much nicer for this last day...
St Lawrence market, the best place for a nice lunch downtown Toronto !
Had some crab cakes and fish tacos. Excellent !
Toronto's "flat iron building"
Overall, we enjoyed those two stopovers in Toronto, it allows you to visit multiple places on one ticket and we try to do this everytime when travelling on vacation.
