I flew throughout Europe from 2018-2022 on BA, SK, KL, TK, OS, RJ, LH and EW. For coach, you are right, it can be a rugby scrum, especially in the UK and for some reason Portugal. But the singular difference is that no matter which carrier I flew, F was boarded before Y and pre-boards were tiny groups compared to what we see in the US, especially on UA. As for LH group, yes, some of their gates resembled anarchy, but again, IME they board *G passengers along with F passengers, which meant I never had to worry about overhead space.
