However, due to the impending strike of security staff at LHR cancelled my flights after checking that they were refundable (less $400 each in my case). Told the refund would appear on my cc within 5 days. Now, no refund but a 'credit for another flight' for each of us to be used within a year. Just Twitter AA. AA process for kicking off a refund is hit or miss. Sometimes when I cancel an award ticket, the miles/fees are reinstated/refunded without further action. Other times they do not and a tweet gets it done.
I don’t think this elevates to questioning "trustworthy-ness.” IMO No one is intentionally holding up the refund; DoT has fined several airlines for slow refunds.
Buggy IT, definitely.
