Told the refund would appear on my cc within 5 days. Now, no refund but a 'credit for another flight' for each of us to be used within a year. How can I escalate this or how long should I be patient and hope my cc gets recredited (cc is Citibank AA).
Just Twitter AA. AA process for kicking off a refund is hit or miss. Sometimes when I cancel an award ticket, the miles/fees are reinstated/refunded without further action. Other times they do not and a tweet gets it done.

I don’t think this elevates to questioning "trustworthy-ness.” IMO No one is intentionally holding up the refund; DoT has fined several airlines for slow refunds.

Buggy IT, definitely.
