Yes, but when does this happen is what I was asking. As mentioned in my post IIRC last year it took several weeks after the change date to credit back the points.

Maybe it's me. Sure, hotel/airline devaluation negatively impacts me but I don't fret about it. Pounding the keyboard doesn't help. It is what is and it's unavoidable. I vote with my wallet and feet.
I feel like you may have misunderstood my post then. I definitely think that everyone here can agree the need to change it to a Cat 1-8 so no sense discussing that further. As far as increased pricing my post only said that many people would simply have to rethink travel plans for certain properties.
For example - Instead of staying at Andaz San Diego which is now going to be a Category 5, stay down the street at Manchester Grand Hyatt which is a Category 4. A 33% cost increase can definitely be a deterrent, especially when the property is severely lacking.
So I’m not saying anyone needs to cancel travel plans because of Category Changes but people will most certainly make alterations to their plans later on in the year. It’s funny I think when looking at the list every single property that’s on the list from California has gone up a Category not one single one going down.
