In October my husband and I misplaced (or never got) paper tickets for a trip to Europe. I hadn't been on the lookout for paper tickets- they issued them because it had a Swiss codeshare. Good thing we got to the airport early. I was honest about the fact that I could very well have thrown them out not realizing the envelope had tickets in them. They didn't charge us to re-issue but it takes any airline forever to re-issue paper tickets (OK, 30-45 minutes), so allow for that if you need to have them re-issued before you fly.
