He needs to add you as nominee on his account, it's a very simple process, then he doesn't need to be on the call. Then you'll be able to do a TCP (to complete party) as long as you're booked in the same cabin, and give him seating benefits. I'm not sure he gets additional baggage.

If you're not actually travelling it's probably cheaper just to pay for seats and baggage though.
