Strange things are going on at the Chase Personal Recon Dept! Just had a 40 min phone call with them, and my 2nd call in was with a rep who was even worse informed than the 1st one! Instead of saying that I had 5/24, she told me that I actually had 7/24 because she was including AU accounts. I politely explained that those were AU, and she replied by asking me, "Do you pay bills with those cards? Do you use those cards?" I said yes, sometimes, to which she replied, "Well, then those count. You are responsible for those cards and they affect your credit score." I said, "I know they do affect my credit score, but I didn't open those accounts, my husband did." No answer...
She added that since mine is a 5/24 application, that they didn't even have the authority to reconsider it! I politely thanked her for all her help but asked if I could please speak to a manger or supervisor who could confirm the information she was giving me. She said she would get one and then put me on hold for about 10 minutes. Finally, she came back and said that actually no manager or supervisor was available, but that she was escalating my application to the 2nd review team and they would get back to me within 7-14 business days! I asked if that was the same as escalating it to a manager or supervisor, but she said, no, it's not the same, but that they would know to take off the AU accounts. "But what about the store accounts?" She said that they will "dig deeper" and know how to assess each account. Now I really am frustrated and I'm thinking about making my 3rd call in today since I'm traveling soon and would like to get the card asap. Thoughts?? Thank you! :-)
