I believe in general you can not scan a visa with the UA app. At one time the L tourist visa for China were scanable and there may have been some others, but most cannot. Do you have reason to believe others have been successful? Lack of response after multiple request is usually not a good sign.
You may just need to see an agent at the airport.

You’ve nailed it. I remember being able to scan in the China visa but the India visa is a no-go. I even went to the PC version of the site which is a lot more functional (you can scan with your camera, or add an image saved to the drive!). Still—no joy. I will just have to wait to check in at the front at ORD.
