Flying on DL/KE ex-ICN can be pretty cost effective (especially in PS with an MUA up to J).
Also going East to get to Bali is not something I would advise. I rarely get jetlag but we went East to get to Bali (SQ Suites -- JFK - FRA - SIN - DPS) and the jetlag was pretty bad the first couple of days. The timing for going via Europe to get to Asia is rougher on the body than going West to get to Asia (at least in my experience).

Agree completely -- I would also push back on the "Bali hate." I loved it as long as you aren't going for the beaches (if you are -- then yes go elsewhere).
We stayed at the Chedi Club in Ubud (now called Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana) and it was fantastic. Private plunge pool amongst the rice paddies, breakfast every morning looking out into the rice paddies, excellent food, easy to get into Ubud and explore, not a terrible drive to get Mount Batur and do a sunrise or sunset hike
