I think I had the option to check in before the POUG, but they may be unrelated. However, after the POUG the interface couldn't even find my reservation for a while.
I've no idea if there are unallocated WTP seats. I forgot to ask the call centre agent before hanging up, which was silly of me. Expertflyer shows them all allocated, but I'm not sure how reliable it is when the flight's gone to airport control as I suspect it has. The call centre did confirm that I was now booked into WTP, so it's not the case that the upgrade has gone sideways.
We'll see how this goes, maybe they'll have to kick someone upstairs to Club to make room for me. Of course, "Pick me! pick me!"
