I read it more as a gentler than I would have put it comment on the tone of some of the comments on this thread about people who are homeless.
Regardless of someone's social or economic situation, and I say this as someone who has bought food for homeless people and sympathize with their situation, it in no way excuses anyone, be they homeless or some Gen Z airheaded dingbat coming onto private property and helping themselves to food they are not entitled to, unless the property has made arrangements to permit this - which I'd be confident saying none of them have.
