Unless you get a significant advantage when booking through the AMEX portal, and it's a simple one-airline trip, I would strongly recommend against using AMEX travel from past experience. For me the agent was unable to even figure out there was a schedule change resulting in BA-AA PNR sync somehow being lost, showing different flights in each PNR.
