The poster I posed the question to is US Based as per their profile. Of course, credit situation is a factor for consideration too.

I was gifted Hilton Gold a few years ago and it has been extended. Hilton is offering a further year if I have 2 stays before being demoted on April 1st. I really have no desire to meet the challenge. I have stayed at few times. The only thing that cones to mind with Hilton is the barrage of emails offering a reduced upgrade rate.
