Are mileage runs for earning AC status (requiring AC metal) even a thing anymore?

Just did a bunch of TATL searches for YOW - various European cities over the next few months and AC prices are mostly $3,000+ R/T in Flex and $4,000+ R/T in Latitude. Connections via IAD/ORD/EWR on UA are usually much cheaper.

Asia is even more expensive.
