b) DL660: ATL-LAS (Continued):
As I enjoyed my flight aboard Delta 660 from Atlanta to Las Vegas, we were bound to make a slightly earlier than scheduled arrival into Las Vegas's Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). After flying west over Lake Mead, Boulder City, Henderson, and the eastern portions of Las Vegas, the plane turned in a southwestern direction to begin our very final approach. After flying over The Boulevard, a suburban shopping mall, we flew over
Maryland Parkway, a north-south artery running from Charleston Boulevard (NV-159) just south of Downtown Las Vegas all the way to the airport. I could also see where it meets Flamingo Road along with some apartment buildings to the right of the intersection.

We then flew over the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV).

We were so close to the airport and down below, I could see the northeastern edge of the airport, where Paradise Road (running from the top left to the bottom right of the photo) intersects Tropicana Avenue (NV-593), an east-west artery running from Whitney, a suburb east of Las Vegas all the way to Summerlin at its western terminus.

We were about to land and I could not be more excited to be back in Vegas after so many years!

Finally, at 11:57 AM PST, 12-minutes ahead of our 12:09PM scheduled arrival time, we landed smoothly at Harry Reid International Airport on Runway 19L.

After getting a warm welcome upon our arrival, the flight attendants gave us the all clear to use handheld electronic devices. As we taxied to our gate, I could see some properties on The Strip. From left to right they included: MGM Grand, Hilton Grand Vacations Elara, Resorts World, Wynn, Encore, and the to be completed Fountainbleu.

At the very southern end of The Strip from left to right: Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, and a portion of New York New York.

Looking just a bit north of The Strip, I saw New York New York, The Cosmopolitan, MGM Grand, and
Park MGM (formerly Monte Carlo).

Followed by from left to right: MGM Grand, Park MGM, Hilton Grand Vacations Elara, the High Roller Ferris wheel, the Venetian and Palazzo, and Resorts World, where I would be staying!

As we were continuing to taxi to our gate at the D-Gates of Terminal 1, I began to plane spot. I first saw N752SW, a Southwest Boeing 737-700 at Terminal 1, Gate C25 that arrived from Austin as Southwest 3113.

Followed by more Southwest action.

From left to right I spotted: N236WN, a Southwest Boeing 737-700 at Gate C11 that arrived from Omaha, NE as Southwest 487 and would be departing for Sacramento, CA as Southwest 487 along with N734SA, another Southwest Boeing 737-700 at Gate C9 that arrived from Oklahoma City as Southwest 5860 and would be departing for Orange County, CA as Southwest 5860.

A closer look at N734SA.

Getting closer to the D-Gates, I spotted the control tower in the distance.

We then turned left on the tarmac to go to the D-Gates and I spotted a United jet in the distance.

I spotted another Southwest jet.

We then headed straight and turned right, now nearing our gate at the D-Gates. As we taxied, I spotted N892DN, a Delta Boeing 737-900 at Gate D37 that arrived from Salt Lake City as Delta 2809 and would be departing for Los Angeles as Delta 1664.

As we pulled into Gate D41, I then spotted N386DN, a Delta Airbus A321 at Gate D42 that arrived from Minneapolis as Delta 1287 and would be returning there as Delta 1287.

At Gate D38, I spotted N593NW, a Delta Boeing 757-300 that also arrived from Atlanta as Delta 941 and would be returning there as Delta 941.

At 12:02PM PST, we parked at Gate D41, next to N386DN at Gate D42.

A few minutes after we parked at Gate D41, the door from the plane to the jetway was opened and we were cleared to disembark the plane. When it was safe to do so, I left my seat to leave the plane. As I exited N581NW, the Delta Boeing 757-300 that operated our flight, Jennifer, who was stationed near the galley closest to Doorway 2R, wished me a wonderful trip and thanked me for flying Delta. I thanked her for a wonderful flight in return and we parted ways. I exited the aircraft via Doorway 2L, making my way to the D-Gates. I could not believe I was back in Vegas for the first time in over 20-years!
