Looking to book a reservation for a deserving friend and her family. If her plans change - e.g. dates, can I assume I can cancel, points would be returned to my account, and I can re-book with updated itinerary?
Specifically, I am asking the question regarding this note from Marriott's website on the subject:

- Both names and the Member's Membership Number must be provided to Member Support at time of booking the Gifted Award Redemption Stay and cannot be modified once booked.
