Hello everyone:

I will be flying for the first time in May since the pandemic, kind of excited. I have a CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite where the first checked bag is free. My flights are YYZ-LHR and BCN-YYZ on AC, booked under Economy Basic fare. The credit card is linked to my Aeroplan profile. When I do online check-in, will the system automatically know that the first bag is free? I messaged AC via Twitter and they told me to check-in at the airport so the agent could see my card and waive the fee. Is that how it works? It doesn't sound too convenient or user-friendly if that's the case.

I tried to search but can't find a clear answer. Thanks and please kindly advise.
