May be a 380 specific issue related to maintenance. Possibly related to a shortage of ground staff making turnaround times impossible.

Interestingly, I was in the GF lounge last week and there was an announcement "BA flight to wherever is now boarding from gate x" for every long haul and some short haul flights. This was a human announcement rather than the automated ones you hear in the main terminal. These flights were not delayed. A host confirmed this is a new policy. Sat on the terrace, I heard each announcement twice - including the one from GC upstairs. Was not conducive to making the lounge a haven of tranquillity. Nor was it reliable as it was not every flight.

Is this now a thing or a short term experiment gone wrong?
