Six Senses FijiWhich room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Hideaway Pool Villa using IHG points. We arrived early in the morning and were given one of these units. After asking about Ambassador upgrades, we were later that day allowed to move to a Beachfront Pool Villa. According to the pricing levels for their accommodations, this was a two level upgrade. However, this was early March, and the resort had just re-opened after some sort of construction/refurbishment, so it was relatively empty when we arrived. This was likely a factor in getting an upgrade.
How are the rooms?
Very nice. The villas are very spacious and all have private plunge pools.
How is the exec. lounge?
Not applicable.
What was good and what was bad?
The good:
- The villa was very nice.
- Food was quite good; we only did the 'special' meal service once (underwhelming) and otherwise ate in the main restaurant.
- We received a 50 min couples massage as part of our Ambassador benefits.
The bad:
- The weather - unfortunately a cyclone had passed nearby and we got a lot of wind and rain. This limited our activities. No fault of the resort of course.
The ugly:
- During our stay, a lot of the boat transfers to the main island were canceled, and this was a source of stress as we needed to get our early morning boat to make our flight to AKL Fiji was a stopover on an award booked with AS miles so changing our flight if we couldn't make it back to the main island was going to be a real PITA. Luckily, our boat went out and we made our flight. Other folks scheduled to leave a day before us were not as lucky.
Value for $ or IHG One Points? Would you return?
Given the IHG Premier card 4th night free, plus the IHG Select card's 10% point rebate, I feel we got a decent value for our points. But I don't think I'd return here as there are other areas of Fiji I'd rather explore. And I wouldn't go in cyclone season again
