I am having a similar experience with United. I have been looking at one way economy fares from CLE to SCL around October 18. The price seems to increase every time I check it. Last night it was around $500, this morning it's over $700. Can't wait to check it again this afternoon!
EF is not showing any changes in UA fare filings in recent days -- $676 WLX6A0BL BE and $746 WLX6A0DL Main 50-day AP fares are cheapest one-way fares as shown below. Without examples with fare classes, there is really not much to go on here. The notion that one person's searches (out of likely many thousands of daily inventory pulls on routes) is likely to trigger inventory changes is pretty far out there.
