That's a good plan. There may be no space now for March-April 2023 because we are very close in, but I bet if you looked 10-11 months ago you would have found Y space in that range.
For March-April 2024 we are not yet in the AS booking window so you won't find anything yet. Do not let that bother you. I think you have an excellent chance for Y in 2024 so long as you start looking as soon as the AS booking window opens. Start checking BA a week or two before AS opens your dates to see what might be available since their booking calendar goes further out. Use the Calendar Trick if booking JAL one-way in the few days near end of schedule.
