Last week I walked by the BR desks at T-3.5hrs and it looked like check-in was in full swing, so I think the published T-4 opening is true.

The queues tend to be longer earlier on, and can be a tad chaotic with CI right beside them. I almost always waltz up under T-2 and have never had an issue at YVR, even with bags.
