You can either get a transit visa by contact the Japanese embassy or consulate, or you can get a shore pass via your airline. But as you are on separate tickets, you will probably have to for for the transit visa option. But you'd need to talk to JAL and/or the embassy to know.

Since your connection is above 24 hours you will need to need to reclaim luggage and recheck the next day.

Generally, if you enter Japan, you either need a boosted vaccination or a PCR test.
