If you fly ANA domestic to HND, you might have a long walk after you deplane. You will collect your bags, and then leave the sterile area through a one-way door. (You cannot go back to the baggage carousel after you leave the sterile area). Then you will take a shuttle bus or monorail to the International Terminal.

I think 2.5 hours for a connection from Domestic to International is do-able, but if your flight to HND is delayed by an hour, you will miss the window to check luggage. I think AA check-in desks will close an hour before departure.
