We had an LH booking where our YYZ-YQR leg was cancelled so we are on FRA-YVR-YQR and the YVR-YQR leg is on a Q400, so quite a long flight for the aircraft. There are no pairs open in the preferred rows, so I wonder if it is worth selecting 1C and 2A, or 2F and 3D, and hope someone will be willing to switch (not the worst thing if not...) or just go with the next set of two and be done with it. It is a business class booking but alas no other option to get home without an overnight at YYZ other than via YVR, so that is what we are doing.
Prefered seats do have some extra legroom, and it does make a difference IMO. That's said those seats are also quite narrow and I would definitely prefer to sit beside a travel partner instead of a stranger, I think it is preferable to give up the extra legroom in that case (even if I would happily trade a preferred window seat with an preferred aisle seat if someone ask me...)
