It's bizarre that they've even picked up on this.
Assuming OP doesn't need the night credits and both reservations are on points, then the easiest / least risk solution is to cancel OP's own reservation and make another GOH booking in the name of whoever would be sharing the room with OP. Then they have no (spurious) reason to deny benefits.
