No need to apologise. BA themselves try to muddy the water about whose fault things are. I’ve lost count of how many times BA captains complain over the PA about ‘Heathrow’ being taken by surprise about a flight arrival, or being allocated a remote stand etc etc. They really should know better.

But the highlight for me was when Willie Walsh recently tried to blame the Heathrow issues on HAL’s failure to employ enough ground handlers, when he surely must know that ground handling is an airline responsibility (and one which BA has inexplicably chosen to keep in-house despite decades of problems).
