That sounds like very crap experience for the OP and I understand their frustration. I'm afraid this is not untypical for BA. It is very poor.
However I am not sure what more that Captain could do other than apologise three times in sixty minutes? They have no control over the gate sh*t show at LHR and I imagine that they are fed up with it as well. The only thing he/she could have done is increase the frequency of apologies, but one every 20 minutes seems in order to me. This really needs sorting.
