What does spend settled in GBP for Amex offers (UK) mean ??
I have an offer for £75 off £300 at IHG hotels and plan to use it next week. The hotel I'm staying is in the EU and the bill is in EUR . Normally I don't use my UK issued Amex platinum outside the UK due to the 2.99% fee .
The hotel I'm going to stay is in the list of participating locations but the offer says that the spend has to be settled in GBP
Does this mean that I end up having to choose to be billed in GBP when the transaction is in EUR if I want to get this offer ? . I dont want to get hit with possible DCC charges by trying to pay in GBP when the local currency is EUR..
I don't mind a 2.99% fee if I'm getting £75 off £300 if that's all thats needed ( i e i choose to pay in EUR and Amex applies the 2.99% fee and charges me in GBP )
