As others have said, just switch to a longer connection in HKG and ask the check-in agents at your departure airport to check your bags only to HKG. You can say that you want to visit a friend in HK for whom you have presents in your checked bag (Esp. Credible if they are liquid or large ones!), that you want to rest in a hotel landside, that you want to pick something up in HK that you want to add to your checked luggage for the second leg, etc. There are plenty of good and credible reasons to do this. Then just don’t show up for the onward flight. You will be treated as a “no show”, but nothing else should happen, especially not if you don’t have a history of doing these things before. It would be way more inconsiderate to the airline and other pax to have the bag checked at departure all the way to your supposed “final destination” and then force the airline to offload them when they can’t locate you anywhere.
