I was hoping to get on their site to select seats as I am going to be traveling with a Baby and was hoping to select a bassinet seat. I initially gave West Jet a call and they predictably told me that because it was operated by JAL that JAL would need to be the one to help with the Seat/Bassinet request.
So I called JAL and they told me while they can see the reservation they cannot access it for Seat Selection or Special Requests because there system won't let them access a codeshare reservation because it does not recognize WS5307 because it is a code share. They told me to call back West Jet and ask them to put a comment on the reservation and hopefully at check-in they can accommodate the request. As there are not that mean seats that have bassinets, I was hoping to get this request in early. Is this a hang up and call again situation because the JAL rep should have been able to assist, or is this something they legitimately cant help me with.
I had to wait an hour on hold to speak with someone so before hanging up and calling again I was curious if anyone has ad any similar issues.
You will need to contact the marketing carrier for seat selection and special request.

If your flight is operated by Japan Airlines but marketed by American Airlines(i.e. American Airlines flight number [AA8404]) or other airlines(i.e. Malaysia Airlines flight number [MH9109]), please contact the marketing airlines for seat requests.
