Considering I read this forum fairly regularly - I feel stupid asking this question... but has the cost of flights using Avios significantly increased recently?

I have 2 Companion Vouchers, with one expiring in June. Having recently used up a large % of our Household Avios Balance on a QR reward flight, I was looking at how we could try and use the voucher before it expires.

With NY Being one of the routes with the most availability, I had a quick look and was surprised to see the cost was 170,000 Avios + £700, i'm sure it used to be significantly less. Also seems to be quite alot when you consider that a reward return flight to SIN, which is a much further journey, is 230,000 Avios.

I usually earn about 10,000 Avios a month, but given the large cost of reward flights i'll probably either let the vouchers expire or use them on Short Haul flights. Of course there is the option of subscribing for extra Avios - but the reality is that I wouldn't be saving much compared to a cash fare for some destinations. 200,000 Avios through Subscription is £1,789 + Taxes and fees of Circa £1,000 depending on routing.

But yeah - back to the main question - has it gone up?
