After Pierre passed away in 2017, I started to fly business and even first, and still stayed in nice suites in luxury hotels. But after Covid, I invested in a bigger house, and traveled less often. I still fly business (no more first as rates were multiplied by 2, sometimes 3), and I tend to choose less luxury hotels. I don’t see the point in paying 1.5kEUR for a standard bedroom. Most often 4-star hotels offer much more for half the price. And I despise the influencers taking 200 pictures at the pool, at restaurants etc. Worst of all is repost of influencers pics by official Instagram accounts of luxury properties.

This forum is much less active than it was five years ago, and the pandemic squashed travel so much. Then, in many areas, inflation, escalating flight cost, and rate increases at luxury venues — it’s more than a triple whammy. Going only by observation of posts in this forum rather than the scientific method, it would seem Asia and near Asia are seeing most interest.
