I rented a manager special at El Paso international airport for 3 days in February. When I got there it was a bit of a mess. They did not have any staff attending to the rental counter. My wife walked outside to the rental garage and found all the Hertz staff and a line of people at the kiosk in the garage instead.

The line was pretty long, but an employee asked if I was a gold status member, and I mentioned my president circle membership. He said just choose any car from the gold or president circle section of the lot. The cars in the President's circle were sort of meh for my needs - full size SUVs and two Toyota Camrys with signs on the dashboard saying hertz did not have the time to fully clean the vehicles.

I instead went with a Hyundai Kona crossover in the Gold section and was pleasantly surprised, putting almost a thousand miles on it over a long weekend.

I would definitely do the manager special again
