The hotel has no way to associate the restaurant charge with the stay unless it is billed to the room. I can see how the wording could be improved, but once you understand that the credit is from the hotel, and not from American Express, it makes sense.
Oh ok. And I assume I won’t be able to dispute this with the hotel or Amex I guess right?
