I change my departure day (To January 2024) with no problem and am able to keep my award business ticket with Japan airline .
However, when I log in Japan air website to select my seat , all the seat from row 1 to 7 is blocked ( aircraft 777-300ER). I check the entire week and it is all the same . it is strange because I can select seat 1D & 1G in my original booking after ticketing completed by Alaska airline's agent.

I contact Japan Airline and was told these seats are protected and only open at check in at the airport . Japan Airline's agents told me I can request for them at check in counter. I am not sure if this is a new rule to prevents business passenger class to select first class seat depart from Bangkok to Haneda or not . The agent also told me these seats has not been assigned to any passenger, they are just blocked .

Have anyone here able to select row 1 and 2 seat 24 hrs before departure from BKK airport on 777-300 ER aircraft . And any advice or tips on making seat selection sucessful on an award ticket , please share.
