Just booked at the Doubletree Monti, which wasn't exactly cheap either, but at least it should be "normal".
we ended up at the doubletree when this property didn’t open as planned and were quite happy with the rooms and service. A couple of great gelato places very nearby and trattoria Monti was a great meal, and not somewhere we would have gone had we not been staying nearby. I think you’ll be happy with the switch.
