I guess this bit that doesn't make sense here is if it's OK to miss that flight, and if there is a Plan B, why bother when you have a greater than 50% chance of not succeeding? One takes risks like this if it's the better outcome compared to the alternatives, and yet in this case it appears not to be the case.
Thanks very much. Fair point, the answer is that missing the connection would not be catastrophic, but this connection is still far better than the alternatives, which entail 3AM wake-ups and 5+ hour layovers. If I have a 85-90%+ chance of making it, and things are working well on the day, I'll chance it. If lower odds than that, 3AM it is.
