Weird faring on SFO-YWG via YVR
Hey guys!
I was looking at tickets on UA's website to fly SFO-YWG via YVR when I noticed something interesting. The first thing I noticed was that the price for an "Economy" ticket was $600 more than the quoted price for the equivalent route on AC (priced via ITA Matrix)
I started looking at the fare classes for the individual segments on UA and I noticed that when booking a connecting flight to YWG through YVR, the SFO-YVR leg was booking into fare class C, but the portion flown on AC metal was booking into T. So I did some investigation. If I fly non-stop SFO-YVR on its own reservation, I can book into U.
AC's faring is what I would expect, which is to say, actually booking me into Economy Cabin on both segments.
I'm not an expert at reading the fare rules, but it looks like the fare rules allow for transfers, so what's the deal with pricing me into first class on an "Economy" ticket?
