How visitor-unfriendly it can be to issue an approved ETA/evisa/ESTA — or visa, electronic or otherwise, by any other name — and then just revoke it.

Plenty of people hold back from locking up money in travel plans until after getting approved for such travel docs. And yet, with the electronic visas being so easily revoked after approval/issuance, there is this risk of prospective travelers paying a price for government sloppiness.
