I've delayed claiming my bags half a dozen times at LAX. After a flight, I'll go to the UC to visit the ladies room and grab a glass of wine or a little snack before heading to baggage claim. I don't delay longer than 30-45 minutes or so. My bag has always been waiting for me right in front of baggage services. I don't usually check electronics or jewelry or cash.
