"Unconfirmed" is an utterly meaningless word in this context.

If a live WestJet agents tells you, "I'm sorry, your flight is unconfirmed" - with no clarification or further detail - would you have any clue what is going on? Of course not. It means nothing.

Or, if a live a agent were to say to you "Your flight's departure time has changed" or "your flight has been rescheduled" ... might that be better clearer communication that actually means something?

The same idea applies in their technology -- except it's more important that their tech communicates clearly to customers. It needs to stand on its own, so that the user understands it immediately without being able to ask clarifying questions (like, "huh, what the heck do you mean my flight is unconfirmed?"). Without clear communication, all this app will do is drive panicked calls to WestJet call centers with customers asking what 'unconfirmed' means.

After I saw this garbage communication in the WestJet app, I went to the WestJet website. There, the language is totally different -- and clear, and informative. Why would they not think to communicate clearly and coherently in the app when they did so on the website? (Also, on the website, my flights still show up in date i.e. chronological order -- unlike the app. What a great idea!)

The WestJet website experience:

Flight WSxxxx
Rescheduled - Departs at (time), (day) (date)
Original departure: (time), (day) (date)

The WestJet app experience:

This flight is unconfirmed.
Flight WS xxxx

This app needs some serious work, and a UX redesign.
