Just some additional information re: credit cards and Uber.

In my experience about 1/3 of the merchants who take Amex only accepts physical cards but not mobile payment. So best to keep your card with you. Many convenience stores (7-11 and FamilyMart) and fast food restaurants (McDonalds and KFC) only accept certain local credit cards.

By law both taxis and Uber use the same fare structure, so in theory an Uber won’t be cheaper than a taxi, and sometimes more expensive due to surge pricing.
