Because of the short transit time, I really hope the bags are transferred to Ottawa without having to pick them up and place them back on the connection belt.

I'm surprised that even the airlines don't have a clue. The airport website gives conflicting information. So if bag are checkedin and tagged to the final destination, how would the passenger know whether or not they have to collect bags and go through customs and place them again on a connectiom belt.
