you are correct. XT is used as a combination code when there is insufficient room to print out the individual taxes. if you want to know what is being added in order to generate your XT total, you would have to review your pnr on the originating GDS. i am not sure if your travel agent can access that section [they should, but some things are barred by the airlines]; if your travel agent cannot view what is being added to generate your XT total, you will have to contact the airline.

this url gives a complete listing of tax codes used by the airlines as of october, 2003. please note that one code in one country may mean one thing but it might mean quite another in a different country --

you can find out all you want about airline taxes and tax codes by downloading the file:
SamplTaxlist[1].zip -- but that file is a compressed file of a 151-page pdf document!
