They can't just call R&V or Border Ops. The airline can, but individuals can't. The airline can hand the phone over to an individual, but that's not what you decribed. Those are the only two groups within NZ Immi that can/would say anything over a phone about a revocation. A general help line isn't going to discuss it
over the phone. I've just asked someone I know in NZ Immigration and they say the story
as given simply wouldn't happen. I think you've got some of the details here wrong - which is why I mentioned it just in case other people read the thread and think what you've described correct..
